Homeland Rifle

Location: Currently, all classes that are open to the public will be presented at the Warrior's Forge range at 18411 Mays Lane in Culpeper, VA. 

Lodging: Right now the best bet seems to be the Comfort Inn at 890 Willis Lane that is about four miles from the range.  Their number is 540 825 4900.  A Holiday Inn Express will be opening soon.

Policies:

Payment: A 50% deposit is required to assure your place in the course with the balance due at the end of the class. (I'll send you my address once you've completed the online registration.)  If you are not satisfied with the instruction I will refund 100% of the course fee. Please make all checks out to “FPF Training, LLC.”  Checks or money orders only, please.

Refunds: Deposits will be refunded if the student cancels 30 or more days from the class date.  Otherwise the student can register for another class or forfeit the deposit.

I reserve the right to refuse service and to remove people from the class.

Handgun 101

Cost:  $100 (Ammunition NOT included!)

2008 Schedule:  No courses currently scheduled

Course Purpose: The purpose of Handgun 101 is to understand how pistols work, SAFETY and basic marksmanship.  The course will consist of approximately four hours in the classroom and two hours on the range.

Course Prerequisites:  This class is for complete novices.  Must be 18 years old to attend (unless accompanied by a parent), and complete a training registration and hold harmless form.

This course DOES satisfy the Virginia Concealed Pistol Permit requirements. Maximum of 15 students.

Equipment Requirements: 100 rounds of .22 long rifle or 9mm ammunition.  Students may bring their own firearms.

Defensive Handgun Skills I $250 (Ammunition NOT included!)

2008 Schedule:  Culpeper, VA 30-31 August, 1-2 Nov

Course Purpose: The purpose of DHS-1 is to gain an understanding of the defensive shooting environment, develop situational awareness knowledge, hone the fighting mindset, learn weapon manipulation techniques and acquire practical shooting skills.

Course Prerequisites:  This class is NOT structured for novices.  An NRA course, military experience or some other form of formal instruction is a prerequisite.  Must be 21 years old to attend, and complete a training registration and hold harmless form.

This course DOES satisfy the Virginia Concealed Pistol Permit requirements. Maximum of 20 students.

Equipment Requirements: A center fire handgun, 800 rounds of ammunition, wrap-around eye protection, ear protection, a baseball style hat, a concealment garment, 3 spare magazines (the more the better!), a magazine pouch and a QUALITY strong side holster.*

Curriculum:

Saturday 0900-1300

Lecture: Topics will include:

Course orientation and goals, safety, defensive shooting realities, visualization and mindset, pre-incident indicators, post-incident actions, concealment techniques, equipment selection, legal considerations. CAUTION:  Videos depicting graphic violence are part of this presentation!

Saturday 1330-1700

Safety, gun handling & manipulation, ready positions, draw stroke reducing malfunctions, basic marksmanship, controlled pairs, hammers, nonstandard response (NSR) drills.

Sunday 0900-1300

Basic marksmanship refresher, drawing from concealment, communicate, shoot, move, scan drills, controlled pairs, hammers, NSR, failure drill.

Sunday 1330-1700

Movement, Negative Targetry, Trigger Control Drills, Reload Drills, Malfunction Drills, Retention, Performance on Demand testing.

For an additional charge of $25.00, students will be provided with a firearm, holster and belt, etc.

*Belt, inside the waistband or thigh holsters are acceptable. No shoulder or cross-draw holsters. Holsters must allow for one handed reholstering…no floppy nylon.  Holsters must also completely cover the trigger!

Defensive Handgun Skills II

Cost: $250 (Ammunition NOT included!)

2008 Schedule: Culpeper, VA  6-7 September

Course Purpose: The emphasis of DHS-2 is on reinforcing a defensive mindset, expanding  weapon manipulation skills and shooting faster and straighter.

Course Prerequisites: DHS I or certificate from a recognized instructor or school, completed training registration form.

This course DOES satisfy the Virginia Concealed Pistol Permit requirements. Maximum of ten students.

Equipment Requirements: A center fire handgun, 1200 rounds of ammunition, wrap-around eye protection, ear protection, a baseball style hat, a concealment garment, 3 spare magazines (the more the better!), a magazine pouch and a QUALITY strong side holster.*

Curriculum:

Saturday 0900-1200

Safety, gun handling, drawing from concealment, reducing malfunctions, basic marksmanship refresher, communicate, shoot, move, scan, controlled pairs, double taps, nonstandard response, failure drills, malfunction drills,

Saturday 1300-1700

Strong hand only shooting and manipulation, weak hand only shooting and manipulation, use of cover, long range target engagements, horizontal/oblique movement techniques

Saturday PM

Night shoot. (Weapon mounted lights permitted.)

Sunday 0800-1700

3D targetry, multiple targets, moving targets, Scrambler Drill, Performance on Demand testing.

Defensive Handgun Skills III/Situational Self Defense

Cost: $250 (Ammunition NOT included!)

2008 Schedule:  Culpeper, VA 27-28 September

Course Purpose: The emphasis of DHS-3 is on reinforcing DHS-2 level skills and then placing students into a role playing "Force on Force" environment.

Course Prerequisites:  DHS II or certificate from a recognized instructor or school, IPSC/IDPA competition, completed training registration form.

Equipment Requirements:

A center fire handgun, (Properly holstered backup guns allowed) 800 rounds of ammunition, wrap-around eye protection, ear protection, a baseball style hat, a concealment garment, 3 spare magazines, a magazine pouch and a QUALITY strong side holster.*

Curriculum: 

Saturday 0800-1200

Warm up/Refresher drills, close quarters shooting techniques, shooting on the move, using cover

Saturday 1300-1600

Incorporating strikes with the draw stroke, strong hand/weak hand only, transition drills.

Saturday PM Night Shoot

Sunday 0900-1500

Participants will have the opportunity to work through several Force on Force (Airsoft) defensive shooting scenarios.

For an additional charge of $25.00, students will be provided with a firearm, holster and belt, etc

Minuteman Rifle Course

Cost $250  (Ammunition NOT included!)

2008 Schedule:  CULPEPER, VA 24-25 May, 11-12 October

This class is designed for MILITARY RIFLES ONLY!  (AR/AK/H&K, etc.)  Rifles MUST be equipped with a sling.  NO STEEL CORED AMMUNTION (M855/SS109) allowed!  You will be held accountable for damage to steel targets if you use such ammunition.

Course Purpose: The emphasis of the Minuteman Rifle Course is practical manipulation and rifle skills for engagements out to 100 meters.

Course Prerequisites:  None

Equipment Requirements:

A military style rifle and a center fire handgun.  600 rounds of rifle ammunition, 100 rounds of handgun ammunition. wrap-around eye protection, ear protection, a baseball style hat,  3 spare magazines, a magazine pouch and a QUALITY strong side holster.*  Knee pads are HIGHLY recommended.

Curriculum: 

Saturday 0900-1700

Rifle ballistics and realities. Care and maintenance. Manipulation drills.  Zeroing.  Presentation drills.  Range estimation.  Malfunction drills.  Transition Drills.

Sunday 0900-1700

Field firing techniques.  Scenario based drills and exercises.

*Belt, inside the waistband or thigh holsters are acceptable. No shoulder or cross-draw holsters. Holsters must allow for one handed reholstering…no floppy nylon.  Holsters must also completely cover the trigger!

For an additional charge of $50.00, students will be provided with firearms, holster and belt, etc
